This delightful necklace features a detailed cat standing inside a group of flowers. The flowers have dimension and really give this design a unique look.
I used my jeweler's saw to handsaw the cat, flowers, oval backpiece and disc connector from sterling silver metal. The oval has the cat, flowers and stems soldered to the front of it. I also used my hammer to give the piece grass-like texture behind the flowers. The cat has stripes that I added using my hammer.
The connector disc is soldered at the back of the oval.
The oval measures 1 3/4 inches long and 3/4 of an inch wide.
The handcrafted chain connects directly to the disc with wirewrapped links. Each link holds a round gemstone bead. The stones are amethyst and watermelon tourmaline. The colors include purple, pink, green, and black and white. Each link is wirewrapped directly to the next to form a strong, durable chain.
The necklace measures 20 inches long and fastens with a handcrafted hook and clasp.
I gave the piece an antique patina and then tumbled with stainless steel shot for a burnished shine.
