I captured the beauty of a moon glowing in the nightime sky over a rugged mountain range in this necklace. It's a modern mix of sterling silver and copper metals that I riveted together. The pendant hangs from sterling silver chain that I gave a little sparkle to with 2 wire wrapped titanium-coated pyrite beads. The tiny, silvery- black stones really sparkle like stars! The mountains were sawed out of copper sheet metal, filed and sanded and then I gave them some rough texture with my hammer. The texture really pops out gainst the smooth background of the sky. The full moon is crafted from sterling silver metal that I also carefully finished before texturing with the pits and dimples we associate with the moons surface. The moon and mountains are soldered to a thick rectangle of copper metal that I added stars to with my hammer and punch. Two rings are soldered to the top corners for the chain to connect to. The wirewrapped pyrite (3 beads) connect the sterling chain to the pendant. Pendant measures 1 inch high, including the two rings, and 1 ½ inches wide. Sterling silver chain with wire wrapped links measures 18 inches long and fastens with a handcrafted sterling silver hook and clasp. I gave the entire piece a patina to bring out details. Necklace was tumbled with steel shot for beautiful shine.
