Just a flash of orange, that's all you'll see as the fox runs through the brush into the woods. I love seeing fox but I rarely get to see the whole animal, just the flash of their tail as they run by. When I saw the stone cabochon I used in this necklace that streak of orange instantly made me think of a fox's tail so I created this necklace of a running fox.
The pendant, fox and the backplate of the bezel are all handsawn from sterling silver metal (925). The stone is set in a fine silver wire bezel with a scalloped edge.
The pendant measures 1 1/2 inches high and 1 1/3 inches wide. The top of the rectangle is arched. I drilled two holes at the top corners and used sterling silver wire to create wirewrapped links to secure the sterling silver chain.
Necklace is 18 inches long and fastens with a handcrafted hook and clasp.
I gave the metal, wire and chain a dark patina and a lot of polish. The pendant was tumbled with stainless steel shot for a burnished shine, before I set the stone.
